our 4 FOCUS areas

HEALTH

Om Mantra in Health
a healthy balanced diet is essential to a healthy body and intrinsic to cognitive development, education and learning social skills. Most children in vulnerable communities can go a day with one or no meal at all! We educate our students on food i.e. food groups, cooking and the importance of hygiene maintenance as well as different types of exercise.
Our students require ways to positively tackle emotions such as:

  • Anger
  • Guilt
  • Fear
  • Grief

We teach them how to work with the mind, body and soul to handle these emotions positively.

we encourage our students to be in touch with their spirituality, be it through prayer or meditation. We teach our students about the different types of meditation and go through what a prayer is.

EDUCATION

“Early childhood education has been stated to be the most effective economic development tool available.” We realise the importance of education and appreciate that people have different learning styles. We educate our students using visual, aural, verbal, physical, logical, social and solitary learning styles. In order to facilitate the above styles we teach through arts, drama, music, sports, cooking, gardening, recreation and African heritage.  This also helps them learn their learning style which is usually reflected by either their school performance or improvement in quality of life.

SOCIAL INVOLVEMENT

Om Mantra in Education
The children we work with come from different backgrounds that expose different socio-economic challenges. Our students are taught the value of respect, support and community. We aim to balance the group centeredness and the “I” centeredness.

ENVIRONMENT

We provide tools to live more sustainable lives. We teach our students to take care of their environment which will in turn take care of them. We teach them how to do gardening sustainably, ecology and recycling.
